The FSSAI Internship Scheme was started 3 years ago where a symbiotic inter-industry-academia partnership was established and young talent across the country was availed with a real life exposure in the field of food safety and nutrition management. The program shall be aimed at involving students in live projects as per their academic line and shall assist them to work on the mission of FSSAI as well as upgrading themselves. Internships are provided on a quarterly basis through the year with minimum of two months that can be stretched to upto six months according to performance and project needs.
The most important characteristics of the program include:
Length: A minimum of 2 months with a possibility of 6 months.
Stipend: 10,000 rupees per month that is given on the basis of attendance, performance and evaluation.
Certificate: FSSAI (HQ) / Regional Offices or Laboratories but upon receiving an allowable score; government-recognized certificate.
Locations: FSSAI headquarters (New Delhi), regional offices (Chennai, Kolkata and others), and national food laboratories (Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Raxaul).
Subject areas: Science & Standards, Regulatory Compliance, Food Sampling and Testing, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Legal and Quality Assurance among others.
Work Environment: The interns should carry their laptops; FSSAI does not take care of the accommodation or traveling expenses; they will get working space, internet, etc.
Eligibility Criteria :
FSSAI Internship Program is available to the students in the graduate or postgraduate degrees in full time at the recognised institutes in India or at any other country. The disciplines that could apply focus on the following:
Science and Technology: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Public Health, Agriculture Sciences, etc.
Engineering: B.E./B.Tech (Students in the 3 rd and 4 th year only) in Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Engineering.
Management: Master degree/Post graduate diploma in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, etc.
Law: Bachelors degree or Master in Law (only FSSAI HQ).
Journalism and Communication: Post graduate degrees/ diplomas in journalism, mass communication or PR.
Note: It is applicable to students who have not received their degrees and it does not entertain multiple applications. It is important that the candidates select one of the fields of internship as per their academic perspectives.
Application Process :
The process of obtaining the application is simple and is done online via the FSSAI Internship Portal. Step by step guide is as follows:
Go to the official FSSAI Internship Portal (sites.fssai.gov.in).
Create an account with active email ID and mobile number.
Provide personal data, education, internship area of preference, and location.
Provide the necessary files: passport-sized photograph, (jpg/png, max 500 KB); resume (PDF, max 2 MB); and an essay/presentation (short write up/presentation), post which you will be short-listed.
Complete the application through the deadline (e.g. December 25, 2024, application deadline for the January 2025 internships).
Applicants will be informed through email of short listing, and published on the web site of FSSAI.
Selection Criteria: The interns will be chosen through attendance, their performance to be judged by the reporting officers, and evaluation of their final report/presentation will be done by a committee.
